New Directions

Today I did my first photo shoot of the new T.T.C. streetcar. It’s an exciting chapter in the city’s history, and hopefully the beginning of some interesting paintings in my urban landscape series. I will be unveiling them in Artworld Fine Art in the coming months.

Kal Honey collage workshop, day 1.
Challenging, interesting and playful.

Earth Art

Thank you Bruno and Graham, true artists, whose median are rocks, soil and plants.
You exceeded our expectations.

Currently preparing for a two day collage workshop with the highly regarded instructor, Kal Honey.  I haven’t made a collage in 40 years.  Should be challenging.

Painting demo at the C.N.E..

I spent a very busy day painting in the Artworld Fine Art “Pop Up” gallery, booth 811.
Nine days left. Come on by. Hundreds of people passing through

, many stopping to chat.

Brok Winsor

Brok Windsor ran for 14 issues of Better Comics during the Second World War, and sadly has never been seen since. All of that is set to change, as Canadian comics historian, Hope Nicholson intends to reprint the thrilling adventures of Brok Windsor and restore his place in history as the manliest of all Canadian superheroes. You can follow along with her progress on twitter, or at brokwindsor.com
This drawing is my contribution to Hope’s Kickstarter campaign.

Floral

One of my favourite floral paintings has found a home in the collection of our dear friends, Cathie and Steven Friedman. I am always very happy to see how my pictures look in a new setting once they have left the studio.

Home and Garden, 12×16

All of these recent 12×16’s will be shown at the Canadian National Exhibition in August.  My flagship gallery, the incomparable Artworld Fine Art under the leadership of Donna Child will have a booth in the ARTS AND CRAFTS building.  The plan is to show works other than my trademark streetcar pieces.

After the Wedding, 12×16

We were attending a wedding reception in Niagara wine country.  I slipped out for a bit of air and was greeted by a golden sunset reflected in the estate’s pond. Those are the kind of moments which keep me painting.

Canada’s Most Wanted?

Just got this photo from the police officer son of two of our closest friends.

There was a St Lucia Police Officer who needed some training by Toronto Police so he came here for 8 weeks and they had a reception with him and the deputy chief at Police Headquarters. I saw the picture they posted on a computer at work and noticed in the background, there is a Rick Taylor painting hanging at Police HQ.

Wow. So very cool and thank you Artworld!
Dad sometimes said a picture of (by?) me might end up on the wall of a police station if I didn’t shape up.
